Amazing Alumni Kara Rollins

I can still picture 4-year-old Kara Rollins.  She was an adorable little blond girl with a beautiful smile and a sparkle in her eye in my JMC class.  She loved to sing – I knew that from the very beginning.  I taught her until 6th grade when she started playing percussion in the middle school band.  She’s 18 now – a graduate of Clark High School and will be attending UT Austin in the fall (with a few of my other former students!! Go HORNS!)

I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to watch her grow as a musician – from the early years singing and playing keyboard to her wonderful performance on the WOAI News 4 San Antonio Living show today.  The best thing about her performance today is that she sang and played her own composition.

“Fostering musicality that everyone has by instinct, developing the ability, as well as encouraging to share joy, of making music of his/her own.” –  that is the concept that Yamaha Music Education System is based on.

Thank you Kara for sharing your love of music with all of us – we are so proud of you!
